A Story of Hope: Tracy’s Journey to Peace and Stability
As we approach the end of the year, we want to share a story that encapsulates what God is doing through Jesus on Colfax—and why your support matters so much.
Tracy and his nephew, Philip, are regulars at Jesus on Colfax. Tracy’s life is a testimony of God’s unwavering faithfulness, even through the hardest seasons.
At 24, Tracy left home for Atlanta with a good union job. But life took a sharp turn when he met two young men with cocaine. It wasn’t long before Tracy found himself selling drugs and serving time in prison.
When Tracy was 16, he cursed God, but as he reflects now, “God never gave up on me.” Over the years, Tracy built a family, survived a triple bypass surgery, and eventually retired. Yet, when he first came to JoC, he was facing housing instability and wrestling with new challenges.
That’s when God showed up through this ministry. At JoC, Tracy found love, support, and a path forward. Today, Tracy lives in permanent housing, and his heart overflows with gratitude:
“I’m happy, and I’ve got peace in my heart. I walk around with a smile on my face.”
But Tracy’s story doesn’t end there. He’s now giving back, inviting others to experience the same hope he’s found. His nephew Philip is one of those people. Inspired by Tracy’s mentorship, Philip also moved out of unstable housing and into his own apartment. He’s now employed at Amazon and building a better future.
This is the heart of Jesus on Colfax—walking alongside people, showing up with love, and helping them find stability and hope. It’s God’s work, and we are grateful to be part of it.
As we close out this year, we’re asking for your help to continue this mission. Your generosity allows us to keep showing up for people like Tracy and Philip, offering the practical and spiritual support they need to thrive.
We switched from Pushpay to Overflow for our Credit/Debit donations. If you have questions, send us an email kayla@jesusoncolfax.org.
Empowering Christmas with Dignity and Joy
This year, we’re bringing the empowerment model to Christmas! Many in our community have shared the pain of not having enough money to buy presents for their loved ones. We’re addressing this with a special Christmas store, where people can use their JoC points to shop for gifts—giving them the dignity and joy of providing for their families.
Will you help stock the store with Christmas cheer? You can purchase items from our Amazon wish list, and they’ll be delivered straight to us, or drop off similar gifts at 9360 E. Colfax. Together, we can make this Christmas one of hope, dignity, and love.
